Eugenio Astocondor Fuertes was born in 1895 in the highlands of Canta, a rugged mountain province north of Lima. Life at altitude was demanding, the land was harsh, the climate unforgiving, and survival required resilience and grit from an early age.
He was a man shaped entirely by the mountains, weathered by the highland sun, hardened by years of physical labor, and grounded in the indigenous traditions of the Andean sierra. His hands knew work long before they knew rest.
From his roots in Canta came a line that would eventually reach Lima and beyond. His son Eugenio grew up carrying those highland values, the same strength and quiet endurance, and passed them on to generations that followed. We honor his memory and the difficult life he lived with dignity.
